on monday, i went with
arielastar to the knitting factory to see hal sparks' band zero 1. the website listed it as the "queer as folk finale party" too so i was hoping other people from the show would be there... we got there at 5:30 to wait outside the venue to see them arriving and that was pointless since hal didn't even get there until around 8 for the meet and greet! what's ridiculous is that some people paid $100 to go to the meet and greet, it basically was hanging out with the band in a little room for maybe an hour. then they got "VIP seating" (which anybody that wanted to pay $50 could get), i feel bad that they wasted their money on that since it consisted of only some folding chairs in front of the stage!!! there was no point. who wants to sit down at a show anyway?

ariela and me lookin' our coolest before the show. damn dude we impress ourselves.
we took silly pictures outside of eachother, and we started talking to this man that was walking his 2 ridgebacks (dogs, i never saw so many until i came here) because he wanted to know what we were waiting for.. so we told him and he said that he worked with gale (harold) on his movie and so has his wife! particles of truth and life on the ledge. turns out they're both producers, ariela and i looked them up when we came home, how weird is that? he was really nice, the lady not so nice. their names were lewis helfer (he directed life on the ledge too), and jennifer elster (she wrote and directed particles of truth). i just told him "he's beautiful!" about gale haha i should've asked how it was working with him but i wanted to stay cool. he couldn't get over how we got there early for the show and had to tell his wife but she seemed to look down on us for it, i didn't like her attitude. this other man came along with 2 ridgebacks too and they were all talking together about them...
there weren't any cast members at the show :( the music isn't really my thing, but it wasn't horrible. i think what made it worse is the fact that the majority of people were sitting down, about 2 songs to the end hal told them to stand up and it became much more enjoyable after that point. the venue was really small and we could see hal well from the back anyway, and he's soo adorable in person! after the show he came out and was signing people's things (some really dumb things too, mostly just ticket stubs but there was a girl that had him sign her pants probably so he'd have to hold onto her fat thigh, their shoes, their CELL PHONE [which is going to wear off anyway!] etc) and talking to everybody for a decent time. he's really really nice and friendly, it made me happy.
he took a picture with ariela, i pretended the first didn't come out so they'd have to pose again and i told him to do something different.. she said he was rubbing her back and kept gazing into her eyes, haha. then came my turn, ariela told him i came all the way from portland and he seemed so pleased, he looks directly into everybody's eyes which is nice and you can tell he's genuine about whatever he says.. i told him how weird it was when i messaged him on myspace saying he should play in NYC when i'm there, and then a week later they posted their show date and he goes "it was meant to be!" all serious haha then he said i should find a good place for them to play in portland and message him with the info so they can play there when they go on tour. when he asked us for our names he got them right the first time, that's a rarity! i took 2 pictures with him and they came out really great/amusing.

in love, with our arms around eachother!

his tongue doesn't even look that long here but it looks like gene simmons' up close. damn.

i told him to make a different face and he did that, i told him he looked angry (sarcastically) and he said "but i wasn't feeling angry!" awwww
